SLK R170 - Modification

Introduced in 1996, the Mercedes-Benz SLK R170 became an icon thanks to its innovative retractable hardtop and compact roadster design. As a proud owner of an R170, I recreated my own car in Blender, preserving it digitally as rust gradually took its toll. The model was created using polygon modeling techniques combined with the Shrinkwrap modifier to accurately capture the vehicle's proportions and details. This 3D model became the foundation for two fictional redesigns: an off-road rally version and a GT3-inspired race car.

The Off-Road concept draws inspiration from the legendary Dakar Rally, featuring portal axles, long-travel suspension, roof racks, and front and rear skid plates, finished in a classic Camel-inspired livery. In contrast, the GT3 version reimagines the SLK as a modern FIA GT3 race car with aerodynamic bodywork and motorsport-focused modifications. Its primary livery pays tribute to the Mercedes-AMG F1 W11 EQ Performance from the 2020 Formula One season, while a second design references the iconic Vodafone McLaren Mercedes colors driven by Lewis Hamilton during his first World Championship-winning season.
